Wild Mohicans / Grog – Treviso Punx
The Arci Binario 1, an Association hidden within the surroundings and shady alleyways of the railway of Treviso, on November 9th, was scene of the exhibition of a great band coming from Portland called the Wild Mohicans, absolutely unknown to me before then. They were supporting the Yankees (besides the final dj set of Kim Avey) and the italic Grog, who are makers of an unpolished and coarse grindcore/d-beat, band to whom I am stealing the words from their own Facebook Page in order to describe them best: “The Grog is an alcoholic beverage made of rhum and water that was widespread between pirates during the XVIII century. The Grog(s) restlessly drink alcohol, while playing d-beat to stop time”. The Wild Mohicans on the other hand are spokesmen of an hardcore mixed with an old-style street punk, bad-tempered and chaotic, with exemplary and self-explaining titles such as “Drunk Alone” and “Police Violence”. Featured by a majestic presence by their front-man, it ain’t easy to forget the mixture of his dyed hair, The System t-shirt and hulk-like arms. Everything was organized from the guys of Treviso Punx with the cooperation of Agipunk! Up the Punks (and the pirates, the rhum and the mohicans)! It surely was a pleasure for me to be able to be there. Also, I would like to remind you all that precisely Treviso Punx are setting up a trip to Rome the 18th of this month for the “No Justice No Peace” Festival!
