The Chromosomes – Losing Eleven – Review
It is with a great pleasure that I’m going to review the new album by The Chromosomes entitled “Losing Eleven”. Officially released on October 13th, 2017, it is the fifth chapter in the discography of the band from Leghorn, founded in 1993. The album is supported by Gabba Gabba De and I Buy Records and you can listen to it for free here: https://thechromosomes.bandcamp.com/album/losing-eleven.
Made up of 11 tracks, it is almost a concept album where each song is about stories of friendships made by the band during its life. The title is a pun from “Winning Eleven”, a playstation game, and the cover art represents a boy who wants to play football in real world, but looking around he sees all concreted over and can’t find a place to play. A beautiful concept, typical of an incurable romantic attentive even to the sociality of the past.
The album starts off with “My Rowdy Hula Dancer”, a track you can love at first listening, making it clear that the band will unleash its melodic punk rock, sometimes fast and aggressive, clearly inspired by the Ramones. The album is very fluid and among its merits, since the genre is little dedicated to innovation, it is never monotonous and can be appreciated in its entirety. The tracklist choice is very accurate, with a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Coat Of Many Colors” standing out. I am very enthusiastic about “Heavy Metal Kid” and “Leavin ‘Canada”, while I’m definitely crazy for “Escape From The Orgy Of Media”, a fast song which can be very good in live shows!
The album ends with the ballad “The Age Of Summer” which starts in acoustic and then goes back to punk rock.
“Losing Eleven” is a record to have and to listen to absolutely, highly recommended to punk rock and pop punk with three chords fans. I also recommend it to melodic punk lovers because, in my opinion, this album has charisma and can please more types of audience.
Come on, listen to it and enjoy it to the end!
Voto album: 8,5
Frase chiave “TV will blast you
TV will blow you away
all the pretty girls on the late night show
will never fall on your feet
TV will blast you
TV will blow you away ” – TV will blast you
