7Years – Lifetime – Review
It’s a great pleasure for me to review “Lifetime”, 7Years’ fourth and latest full length album, published on 7th July 2017. The band from Livorno, treading the Italian stages, from the modest to the breathtaking ones such as the Bay Fest 2nd edition, astonished, with their latest work, all their fans with a definitely more elaborate album. In fact, from the album, seeps growth, maturity and hope, and the paternity theme is very present; the track “Punk Rock Daddy” leaves no doubt: a simple, fast, tight and carefree song. Let’s get things in the right order: the album starts gloriously, with the roaring and breathtaking song that gives the name to the album; going through the hearing of it (as you keep listening to the following tracks…), we find the first collaboration with Hans Roofthooft (singer and guitarist of F.O.D.) in the track “DIY or DIE”, which is just powerful and of which I unconditionally appreciate the two voices intertwined and harmonized, that they are perfect altogether! Then the fifth track “Never Down” is remarkable, by which we can enjoy the second collaboration with Joey Cape himself (singer of Lagwagon and guitarist of Me First and The Gimme Gimmes). Well, I need not to tell you that THIS is one of those songs that everyone must sing out loud during a live show! In the second half of the album there are more relaxed and relaxing tracks such as “Coma” or “For Better or for Worse”, the latter gives a sense of openness to the entire album, also thanks to the keyboards which impressively accompany the voice and the guitar melody. This is an album that has to be literally drunk in one shot and that the Californian-footprinted hardcore melodic lovers should not miss! In conclusion, I must necessarily point out to you the next 7Years show, which
will take place at The Cage (LI) on 30th March, to open the Satanic Surfer concert.
