I don’t remember how I discover the Adolescents, I don’t remember when and where, but I do remember the song, it was ‘Creatures‘, and who knows why, they immediately  appalled me, and so I was listening again and again to the few songs I had before getting my hands on the  albums.

Then, I had the opportunity to see them live, not once but a lot of times, every time with the same energy. I also have a pic with him, it will be my good memory.

And yesterday, suddenly, the news broke in, Steve Soto is dead. At only 54 years old, the bassist and founder of the Adolescents has passed away. The causes of the death are not been released yet, but he was fighting for a better health for many years, Anyway, Steve leaves an empty space in the punk hardcore scene. His attitude and his music have influenced and paved the way to many punk rock bands from the 80s till now.

From the creation of Agent Orange and then the Adolescents, to his parallel musical projects and solo projects  (Manic Hispanic, Joyride), Steve Soto has been a great musician and an inspiration for many musicians wo wanted to learn how to play, just pick up an instrument and start to play punk, he has been a spark for all the Californian hardcore scene. A guy who never stops and since the 80s he was going around the world sharing his music with passion and honesty.

A lot of musicians and bands have remembered him in these days, with messages and prayers written from the bottom of their heart. And while we wait to see if the European tour will happen, which will be a great opportunity to celebrate him, we share our thoughts with his family, friends and all the punk community.
