Review: Volker Putt – Sei Du Selbst

Let’s move to Germany, precisely to Helmstedt, volker Putt’s hometown, punk band wich recently published the new album “Sei Du Selbst” (Be yourself).
Volker Putt introduce themselves as a quartet and if you search on the net, they are well integrated in the german antifascist punk and skin scene. The album has 12 tracks one of which is Bella Ciao’s cover so particular! I really like the band’s style, which perfectly mixes typical punk rock rythmics which riffs that mostly recall the melodic hardcore school and with the typical aggressive, less refined voice of street punk/oi with sing along to spare.
The album ranges from dark to happy tracks, which they focus on militant issues such as antiracism in “Refugees Welcome” (whose I’ll link you the URL’s video) or nationalism and patriotism plague in “Berge, Taler, Neonazis”. I highly recommend the album, especially for the lovers of street punk which is politically involved in fighting against authortitarianism, old and new fascisms, sexism and every other forms of discrimination which is slowly rising again.
Concluding, it’s highly advised, from Volker Putt too, to taste a good beer during the listening and, if interested in the lyrics, as most of them are in German, contact the band(https://www.facebook.com/volkerputtmusik), which is very hyped and courteous, for explanations.

Album mark: 7
