Review: Il Freddo – Self Titled

From Trento, the first album by “Il Freddo”

A power trio directly from the same area that gave us Grandine, Attrito (sending hugs to Rupert and all the arrested comrades btw) and Congegno, which is Trento. Il Freddo has presented us with a self-titled album made of 10 tracks produced by “Teste Ribelli” and recorded at “Officine Underground” in Montebelluna(TV). It’s a cold and sharp hardcore with a nihilist nature.
Indeed, you will clearly be able to capture the influence of bands like Nerorgasmo and Pisciosangue. Hatred, grudge, a straightforward view of life and existence leak from every lyric, which is screamed with a great dose of excruciating anger and emotional transport.
Musically they’re fast, powerful and raw just to the right point.
Needless to say there’s space for “Zombie”, a Pisciosangue’s cover, other than many intros taken from different movies that make the atmosphere gloomy, dark, and give a sense of emptiness all together with the stinging riffs and a pounding rhythm section.
The best thing about this record, maybe a little too much nihilist and negative for my personal taste, is that in the end it’s a beFrom Trento, the first album by “Il Freddo”autiful and introspective journey by the notes of some great and well made hardcore punk.
If the sound gets better in the next releases, we’ll surely have a powerful and all-round band. For now however, great work guys! We strongly advise this album for all the lovers of gloomy and dark hardcore out there.

Rating: 7,5/10
