Bologna City Rockers 10

I had waited for a long time for December 3rd at the Sottotetto in Bologna, both because I had never seen Colonna Infame before and because Bologna City Rockers nights are always full of good people and great punk oi. So I went to the tenth edition of Bologna City Rockers Fest.
The fest started at 8.30 p.m. with Riot Clan, a band from Reggio Emilia which with both serious, angry lyrics and more goliardic songs such “Whisky e Birra” gave us a very good  performance and a direct and powerful punk oi!. They performed with accuracy and with a great feeling among them.
Then we saw on stage the fresh and vigorous street punk kids from Savona: 5MDR, a band which is achieving a well-deserved success. My favourite track was “In Pezzi”. I didn’t know them but after seeing them live I’m going to pay them further attention.
The third band on stage was Basta, oi! from Certaldo. An extra pure, no-frills Oi, and any other description would be unnecessary.
Then another historical band came, Colonna Infame. For what they represented and still represent I could close by saying that you must go and see them at any cost, but after all the healthy pushing and shoving I kindly received in the pogo I want to spend some more words, also because I had a great time.
So… a flawless concert. The kids from Rome played all of their great tracks and the synergy with the audience was thrilling. I stop here not to repeat myself. A great band.
Hard, or even impossible to do better, but the Brigada Flores Magon reunion came close to it. Though they sang in French, I saw many people singing along. Needless to say, “Partisans” was the top of the show; the Parisians were fantastic and I appreciated their presence on stage as well as their music. I must admit that they give their best on stage.
In short, three historical and two valid though recently born bands could only be an explosive combination. The fest was super and as Mascio wrote, it is much better without unnecessary fights.
The next appointments with Bologna City Rockers will be “Fedeli alla tribù” on December 16th  at A Skeggia, then on February 25th at the Sottotetto with Perkele, Zona Popolare, Gozzilla e le tre bambine coi baffi, La Furia, Fun, Tacita, Urban Vietcong and Tullamore.
Until next time, skins & punks!
