Bologna City Rockers 9

24th September 2016. It’s a Saturday that already claims the autumn.
The valiant “Bologna City Rockers” crew put another concert for the crowd that came up to Circolo “Sottotetto”. This time the guests are Lion’s Law from Paris, accompanied by a respectful line-up, that at the end of the evening will record several hundred appearances among skinheads, punks and street kids.
Everything is ready and the open act goes to Bad Revenge from Varese, with their rude and keen punk Oi!. Active since 2009, they hold the stage very well and recall on several occasions in their lyrics the greyness of the province, redeemed by a good half-hour of a powerful set, closed with Agnostic Front cover “Gotta go”. It’s now up to Perugia kids from Azione Diretta, rough Oi!-core that sharply cuts the atmosphere. The band plays some songs from the split with Violent Fringe, along with various stadium anthems, including “Red Scarves”, an explicit hymn to the Curva Nord of Perugia Curi Stadium. The jumps of the singer and the strengthful sonic impact gradually increase the participation of the crowd.
It’s time for Sempre Peggio from Milan, power trio formed for about a year with already several dozens of concerts played. Street life, suburbs, comrades and friends who are gone, hatred for the authority; theyare some of the themes that come out scratchy from the singer and bass player Martin microphone. Great rhythmics and many choirs for songs that are already anthems, as “Vincenzo”, “Giornalista” and “Come fate”; live act is closed by “Sta su de doss”, sang in Milanese dialect, and “Al bar di Golar”, a hymn sung loudly by most of the present.  A warranty.
The stage now welcomes the history of Italian punk and Oi!, always a pleasure to see them on stage. Despite of some changes in line-up, the band is always strong, even for his mentor Steno. We speak of Nabat, clearly. There’s a plenty of “skin & punk” in the pit, as well as the band always sings accompanied by the choirs of the presents. The climate is hot, participation is higher. “Scenderemo nelle strade”, “Tempi nuovi”, “Potere nelle strade”, “Laida Bologna”. Just to remind who Nabat are, besides useless nostalgia. Because the band is more active than ever.
Among another beer and a look at the numerous merchandise banquets present at the event, including “Anfibio Records” and “Hellnation”, we are preparing for the aftermath of this beautiful festival.
The headliners Lion’s Law, oi! Punk, classic street style: zero frills and songs that get into the head from the first listen. Active since 2012, the quintet of Paris formed by the union of bands like Komintern Sect, Streetkids, Maraboots and Burning Heads, shows his strengthness thanks to Wattie, singer with important presence and charisma. Live-set goes on smoothly and people follow the great band songs, singing and pogoing during tracks as “For My Clan” and others from “A Day Will Come” album. Sincere congratulations to this band, hoping to see them again soon.
Night over? Of course not! There are still 2-3 hours with upbeat rhythms that come out from the speakers at the hands of dj Gorak / Rev / Lorenz, who make dancing and skank the heroic presents.
Bravely we go out of the venue, treading on the sticky floor made from spilled beers, with heart and head filled with the beautiful evening just passed. In the name of punk, Oi! and street, as usual!
Until next time!
