Cobra Skulls – Agitations – Review

Today we’ll review “Agitations”, a Cobra Skulls’ album from 2011. They are a punk rock trio formed in Nevada in 2005. They have 3 albums out (Agitations, American Rubicon, Sitting Army), EPs and splits. This is the first album that is under Fat Mike’s label: Fat Wreck Chords.
The album sounds similar to other albums from the same label, except that it has very strong rockabilly influences and the songs are very short. Many tracks aren’t even 2 minutes long, including the first two that give us an idea of how the album is going to be. The only exception is track number 5 “On and On” which is the best song on the album , it reaches 3 minutes of length and it’s different from the others: it gets inside your head with that repeated “on and on”, it was studied more and it sounds more punk rock from the 90s. Another great song is the last one which is acoustic: great song, very catchy (2 minutes 30 seconds). The album goes fast, maybe too fast (28 minutes), but it could also be a good thing. Overall I liked it, the bass guitar riffs fit right in with the guitar and drums which are pretty basic, the vocals were great: they were all done in a great way. I like the sound a lot, it’s a mix between punk rock from the 90s and rockabilly, which is the band’s trademark.
