Gorilla Biscuits Alex Brown

Gorilla Biscuits’ Alex Brown has passed away

The historical guitarist of Gorilla Biscuits left us in the night

Another sad news in the world of punk: Alex Brown, guitarist of the New York hardcore band Gorilla Biscuits, passed away.

Alex Brown, born in Iowa, played with several groups, from Project X to Side by Side, before joining Gorilla Biscuits in 1989. Besides being a talented musician he was also a very appreciated artist, and his works have been shown in art galleries around the world, from Tokyo to Brussels.

Alex was struck by an aneurysm in the night and unfortunately nothing could be done. He was remembered by his bandmates, from bassist Arthur Smilios to singer Civ. Here are their tributes to the legendary Alex. We join them in saying goodbye to another great musician. R.I.P. Alex.

“The world lost a son, brother, uncle, artist, musician and loving friend this week. I lost my bandmate and friend of over 30 years, a piece of my heart died this week and all I can do is think of all the fun, shows, meals flights and trips we had together. All the late night talks and all the early morning hangs with him and my wife and kids. There will never be another Alex Brown.” – Civ

“I’m going to miss you, Alex. I love you, buddy. Completely heartbroken.” – Arthur
