Hardcore gems – Lost and found
Radio Punk Lost and Found: five incredible releases you (probably) missed and you won’t live without
Koyo – “Painting Words Into Lines” – 2020 – Self-released
Long Island’s very own Koyo play their own way of melodic hardcore without sounding banal at all. Like Pacific, Living With Lions and Close Your Eyes sound as the most important influences on their first record. “Painting Word Into Lines” is the easy-listening response to the intransigent modern hardcore wave.
Mindz Eye – “True Blue” – 2020 – Self-released
Colorado-based Mindz Eye are back with a new record that sounds like the perfect link between Turnstile, Higher Power and Ill Vision. If you’re into Slope you’ll surely appreciate that groovy approach to hardcore along with some cool breakdowns (“Oblivion Borrowed Time”, “Brain Wavez”). “True Blue” won’t disappoint you and already represents the band’s most important release so far.
Chain Reaction – “Figurhead” – 2020 – Control Records / Atomic Action! Records
Belgian hardcore strikes back. Chain Reaction’s latest record, called “Figurhead”, hits hard with a sound that will remind you of the best NYHC vibes. Perfect riffs and 2-steps with some metallic hardcore-oriented grooves from start to end. Hopefully we’ll listen to a complete full length in the future, as Chain Reaction need no more introduction and will be featured among the best EU acts very soon.
Torso – “Home Wrecked” – 2021 – Revelation Records
Two new tracks and a cover of “You’re X’d” dei Faith: Torso do not need further songs to come back and show what they’re here for. The Bay Area Italian-American act rely on the almighty label Revelation Records to bring us their vision of the world and their vegan straight edge social and political vision. The Oakland-based quartet do not add something more to their discography, but “Home Wrecked” is an important contribution to the underground culture anyway.
Ends Of Sanity – “Ends Of Sanity” – 2021 – Daze
Ends Of Sanity sound like Hatebreed 2.0 and this is a great news. The band feature current and former members from Magnitude, Dweel and Life’s Question and this act is bringing some new metallic hardcore vibes into the Daze’s discography. Their first record feature four tracks that will remind you of the best days of the ‘90s/’00s era. Also, the song “True Self” features Drain’s Sammy Ciaramitaro.
