Interview with Rebuke

Let’s meet Rebuke, a Sweden punk hardcore band, who are playing together since 2003. They have gained a lot of success in Europe due to their lyrics, fast music and a lot of fun!

I: To start, let me ask what do you think about this festival, which for me has become like a kind of family, what is your impression?

R: It’s my sixth time being here, and third time playing, and yes, everyone is friendly and yes, it is a big family.

I: What do you thing about the absence of barriers between people and the stage? It’s a direct contact with the public…

R: Amazing! Even the biggest punk bands… you can go up on stage and sing along with them.

I: Do you prefer big festivals or small venues?

R: It’s the first time we play some big festival like this, so we can’t actually compare… all the other places we play were really small.

I: About the punk scene, do you think is changing? Is it growing? What’s happening in the punk rock world? Especially in Sweden, your country.

R: Well, our experience is that we see a lot of bands in Sweden but not a big audience. So also in mainland Europe and in the UK there’s a lot of bands and a lot of places to play, so yes, I think is growing.

I: What is the punk attitude according to you? There’s just fun or there’s a political part in it?

R: I think punk should be inclusive, a big thing is solidarity and taking care of each other.

I: Some curiosities now, what do you do before going on stage?

R: A couple of beers… maybe five. Tune our instruments.

I: Is there some band that you are looking forward to play with, to hang out maybe?

R: Adhesive. First time we get to play with them! That’s awesome!

I: What are the plans for the future?

R: We are going to take it easy on playing live now, we are going to focus on writing the new album, last one was in 2010, that’s quite a while ago, so we are going to make sure we have some new album before going to play in front of people again!

And while we wait for the new album, let’s cheers to Rebuke and thanks them for their time and their energy!
