Koseakaso – Squaloparco – Review

It’s been quite some time since I last heard of “Koseakaso” a band that I was pretty much impressed by after hearing their first 2 releases. Eventually, after 4 years and several ups and downs, Mattia got in touch with us asking to review the band’s latest album, a D.I.Y. work named “Squaloparco”. The name speaks for itself as the album is inspired by the namesake cult video game of the 2000s. With their own nice mix of irony and sympathy, you can tell from the very beginning of this album that years have passed but “Koseakaso” did not lose their edge!

The tracks seem to bring forward an even more metal-influenced work that the band had undertaken years ago, with the right mix of American melodic hardcore, some ska-flavoured breaks and their impressive technical skills. The breakneck speed of the tracks and their brilliant riffs greatly support the extremely charismatic vocals which – this is purely my personal taste – I really dig a lot.

The track list is also very well crafted: right after the intro you’ll face a hard start, a middle section to take a breath in between a very tight and powerful album, and a mighty final part!

With such a solid album, I’m having a hard time telling if there’s one song that I prefer over the others but I’ll try anyway: after listening to this work several times, I believe the title track “Squaloparco” is probably the one that stands out the most.

What else… this band released an amazing album and, if you don’t mind, I’ll go give it another listen!

RATING: 8/10
