Review: Astio Notturno – De sa Ruga po sa Ruga
Debut album for Astio Notturno
They are young and angry, that’s how they always present themselves. Who are we going to talk about today? We are talking about Astio Notturno, another Sardinian band, another band oi! The group was born recently and it is formed by boys who met each other at the concerts and a few months later they decided to carry out their anger through their songs. “De sa Ruga po sa Ruga” is their first album, it is formed by 6 tracks plus one cover from the legendary band Bloody Riot (Polizia Assassina).
I instantly realise that this oi! album has definitely an old school sound that reminds me of the Basta or another Sardinian band, the Malepeggio. Still rough in the draft, they can definitely improve since they have a lot of determination. In songs such as “Skin e Punk” and “Chiesa e Stato”, they appear very powerful but there are other slow tracks that are difficult to remember. The themes of the songs are the typical themes of the oi, however, there is a substance but they have to improve. Unfortunately, the sounds are the biggest problem of the album, as they need to be cured more to make everything more powerful and audible.
In conclusion, this is a nice album, there are a lot of ideas, will and anger but I wanted to stop at these criticalities because I see a lot of potential in this young band.
For now, they have passed the test, we are waiting for them at the live rehearsals and hoping to listen to new things.
