Review: Azur – Azur
Back in Florida for the new album by Azur
Let’s head back to Florida, Fort Lauderdale in particular, after the nice job from “Death Lottery”, it’s time for us to discover “Azur”, a punk/alternative Duo.
This self-titled debut album is made of 7 tracks and was released in October 2018: It’s fully DIY as you can tell based on the quality of the recordings, which were entirely taken at Gery’s (guitarist) house. Talking about the album, Azur are proposing something quite different from our webzine’s typical “comfort-zone” but we decided to make an exception and review their debut album because it’s a nice mix of alternative rock, rough punk and sounds very much like the Stooges, Mc5, and so on. All of this album is home-made by the band and you can feel the commitment Azur put into this work: it’s just oozing passion.
To recap, Azur released a good work overall, eclectic and sparkling, in terms of riffing, drumming as well as singing, but it’s definitely more appealing to these who like rock better than punk.
