Review: Backjumper – Scorpion Democracy
The Backjumper from Bari came back with a new short distance discographic test. A 15 years’ experience band with hundreds of inflamed lives sharing the stage with important names such as Sick Of It All, Municipal Waste and Napalm Death. Their Crossover, mixed with an unmistakable Hardcore attitude, has brought them to the well-known Wacken Open Air in 2013, but let’s come back to their last work: “Scorpion democracy” EP sounds nice and pleasant, from a riffing that reminds me bands like Cancer Bats and Stray From the Path (RATM quote is taken for granted) to Pacman vocals that flow among screamo and rap parts making us jump back into the early 2000s! Their lyrics deal with themes ranging from the introspective torment (Optimistic Nihlistic) to the cultural decline in the era of keyboard warriors (This radio hit is the death of fan empire) up to the posers “plastic” HC (Trash Bandicoot). A must record for those who travel the Crossover territories, a fair one also for HC kids and similar creatures.
