Review: Ghetto 84 – Ultras Rock ‘N Roll
Here’s the new full-lenght by Ghetto 84!
After 24 whole years, we can proudly say that Ghetto 84 are back in the studio. The album “Ultras Rock’n’Roll” has been out since April 13th, available on 12″ vinyl, released by Anfibio Records, and it’s got a marvelous 10 tracks. It’s a great honor and pleasure to be talking about legends as big as Ghetto 84, a band that never disappoints, in the studio as well as live. This album captures you right from the beginning all the way through to the end, also thanks to the fact that every song has a superb fusion of rock’n’roll, punk, blues and oi!.
The solos are admirable, the melodic riffs are sought after and catchy, which mixed with the more powerful and fast paced rythm, make this album a windfall.
On vocals we find Rude being in great shape, with a solid singing style that gives out anger and energy. The lyrics prove that the band still has it: with working class hymns, street life issues, will to fight, and a great dose of irony and desire to have a good time.
The band is still psyched, ready and even more willing to amaze us. That’s why I feel absolutely comfortable to recommending this album, “Ultras Rock’n’Roll”: it’s heartfelt, passionate and gritty, but also well cared for in sounds and music , the result of valid ideas expressed in a superb way.
I’m not going to pick one single “best song” out of it, because we’re dealing with an excellent job, and each and every track has a story to tell. Blast it away and you’ll see for yourself once it all gets to the end, you’ll set it to repeat all over again from side A!
What else can I say? Ghetto 84, as their own song “Mezzanote in un Bar” tells, haven’t changed (ne bit: they only have a couple more scars on their skin. Props to them, thanks for gifting us the latest pearl!
Rating: 8,5/10
