Review: Rough Touch – Demo 2019
Demo by Rough Touch from Ferrara
Released not so long ago, this 5-track-demo (intro included) by Rough Touch passed quite on the sly. It’s a pity because this band from Ferrara cranked out a really great record. The line up of the band ganged up quite recently, and this is their debut studio album, even if (to tell the truth) it boasts members of the legendary Game Over, a thrash metal band rather known in our scene.
About this demo album, the songs were recorded greatly at the Animal House Studio, and the minimal but engaging artwork was looked after by Alberto Alberello. The musical proposal of Rough Touch is a mix of thrash metal, hardcore (like Sick Of It All/Madball) and a big dose of old school crossover.
Despite these three genres which, taken singularly, aren’t among my favorites, I found the composition and sounds selection very accurate. For me, the powerful and charming voice gets the high marks, and the lyrics are well-written too. I also appreciated the duration of each track, without worthless frills, and the ability to combine strong riffs and continuous changes in rhythm, switching from more swinging parts to faster ones.
Let’s be clear, we’re not talking about an album with innovatory goals, but surely it does its job, i.e. energize us while listening to the whole album and waiting for their gigs, which I’m looking forward to with pleasure! The trio is ready, let’s go Rough Touch!
RATING: 7,5
