Salespeople: the mathcore according to Lacittàdolente
Discovering “Salespeople” the claustrophobic and labyrinthine mathcore album by Lacittàdolente
A breath of fresh air yet a dive into the past, a sonic assault that reminds of the best features from Botch and Converge. The best of these two bands as a musical starting point for something new and refreshing while the 2020’s pandemic madness is just behind the door. Lacittàdolente is a four-piece
band that sounds like an aggressive and fury-driven mix of dissonant guitars chords and screamed yet spoken-word oriented vocals. Some years ago, Salespeople would have been skyrocketed into the best heavy music charts: this seven-track record wages war to its listeners with an incredible reminiscence of old-school mathcore.
Post-hardcore nuances are wisely mixed with the modern sound of Vein while this first record from Lacittàdolente brings us into a claustrophobic maze which goes well beyond the standard features of heavy music. The Milan-based band delivers all its relentless fury since the very beginning of the record (You Are All), while Sleazy will remind you the best 00’s era days and Venal won’t give you a chance to escape from its rhythm changes. The title-track Salespeople shows the band as a group of musicians who are able to overcome the boundaries of mathcore, while the entire record has the right strength to destroy all its surroundings, despite being a record for a few heavy music aficionados.
