Screeching Weasel – Carnival of Schadenfreude – Review
Controversies, critiques and other bullshit have been characterizing since forever the personality of Ben Weasel and of his band: Screeching Weasel. The latest controversy happened at a concert in Austin where it seems that Ben, after one or maybe two women threw some ice cubes at him, punched these women. Then, concerts have been cancelled, the label expelled the band and the members of Screeching Weasel left Ben by himself. However, after 5 months, on October 29, 2011 Ben and the new members of Screeching Weasel released the twelfth EP which is called “Carnival of Schadenfreude” and it contains 7 tracks. The lyrics are full of anger and irony for being left from the other bandmates and for the people who exploited the incident. The sound and the songs are the same that characterized the catchy, energetic and incisive punk rock vibe of the band.
There’s not much to say about it, the EP flew off the shelves and the fans were very satisfied because “Carnival of Schadenfreude” is compact, fast and melodic to the right point. So, give it a listen, if you didn’t do it yet, and then you can join me while we all wait for the new album!
