SkullJerks – Hearts Blades and Tears – Review
Let’s start by lauding Ellerre records for their precious effort; the accuracy and the enthusiasm in what they do is priceless. Among the products of the label from Venice, here we will talk about the ten track album “Hearts Blades and Tears” by Skulljerks.
What immediately stood out to me listening to their free streaming Bandcamp (https://skulljerks.bandcamp.com/), is how the effective cover recalls the album’s title, depicting a blade stabbed heart into tears. The ten tracks are pretty homogeneous but their strong suit is the innovative personal style: you will taste a punk rock flavour in a skate punk atmosphere with its melodies and pumped up sound. The subject matter focuses on personal stories but all tracks have the common aspect of redemption and strength to keep on living head-on leaving aside illusions.
Finally, “Hearts Blades and Tears” is a passionate, well-kept full-length, and even if there isn’t a stand out track, the band is ready to improve itself and I’m sure that they are going to amaze us with excellent new albums. C’mon guys!
