The Oxide – …Inconvenient… – Review

“…Inconvenient…” is the second EP from the band The Oxide from Friuli; it is a new project for these three guys who have played for several years in other punk and hardcore bands. Up to now, I didn’t know this band, but when the first track started I immediately realized that their musical genre is very close to the one from my favourite band: Rancid. The lyrics are strictly in English, but the translation is too “Italian”; the rhythm is thick and fast; the chorus is made up of two voices and there are some rock’n roll breaks. Unfortunately, there aren’t bands in Italy that have this sound, so this is a plus for The Oxide; it can be seen as something refreshing for the Italian punk scene. However, in my opinion, the lyrics aren’t up to par compared to the sounds: they are too simple and easy and they deal with adolescent trivial matters such as boozes, travels, the crew…
My favourite tracks are certainly “Run Away”, that in my opinion is, musically speaking, the best one and “Alpago Rocker” , a pogo track, for which you can find a videoclip on the web, too. In the EP there is also a gift for Mr. Armstrong’s lovers, a good cover of  the song “Jaded” of Operation Ivy.
So, if these guys have aroused your curiosity, let’s see you in the pit at their next gig.
